The first update is regarding the registration of Aadhaar card in your respective GST registration. In the recent update, it’s been asked to get verified and get the authentication. This has been made mandatory. In case if your mobile number is not registered you will get the option to get verified with your alternate number also. In the case of company, the verification will be done only for the primary partner.
In case one does not have the Aadhaar card or is not available with it, these are the documents one can use as the alternative:
- 1. Aadhaar Enrollment number
- 2. Passport
- 3. Voter id card
- 4. KYC form
- 5. Certificate issued by the competent authority
This verification has been mandatory to everyone, if any taxpayer fails to get verified and authentication is not done then the respective GST registration will not be considered valid.
The second major update for today is regarding filing GSTR 1. Taxpayers were have taking filing GSTR 1 for granted. Since the portal was not taking any late fee, taxpayers were often filing the GSTR 1 after the due date. However, in the latest update, it is been asked to file the GSTR1 else the respective taxpayer has to pay the late fine amount to the department. This late fee is still not asked on the portal but will be charged by the department.
