The Union finance ministry has announced that the gross direct tax collection has increased by 20 percent to Rs 19.68 lakh crore, exceeding the government’s revised collection target, for 2022-23.
It was observed that the gross collection has exceeded the revised estimates (RE), established on February 1 by Rs 2.41 lakh crore, which is 16.97 percent. This was due to the boost in personal income tax collection.
