To link your PAN with Aadhaar online, follow these steps:
Visit the Income Tax Department’s e-filing portal at www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
*Click on the “Link Aadhaar” option under the “Quick Links” section.
*Enter your PAN, Aadhaar number, and name as per Aadhaar.
*Check the box to confirm that you have only the valid Aadhaar number with you.
*Enter the captcha code for security purposes.
*Click on the “Link Aadhaar” button.
After submitting the request, a message will appear on your screen confirming that your request has been successfully processed. If there is any discrepancy in the details entered, you will be prompted to correct them before submitting the request.
If you do not link the pan, you may face issues like,
*You may not be able to file your income tax return: If your PAN becomes invalid, you may not be able to file your income tax return, which is mandatory if your income exceeds the basic exemption limit.
*If you fail to file your income tax return or file it after the due date, you may face penalties and interest charges.
*If your PAN becomes invalid, you may not be able to make financial transactions, such as opening a bank account, buying or selling property, investing in mutual funds, or applying for loans.
