The government plans a state-of-the-art Tamil Nadu Tech City (TN Tech City) in Chennai, Coimbatore, and Hosur to position the state as an IT and IT-enabled services hub.
The tech city will house centers of excellence, innovation plazas, convention centers, recreation facilities, and other infrastructure needed for IT/ITeS companies, global capability centers (GCCs), and startups to function seamlessly, finance minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan said. He did not specify the amount allocated towards this.
A state government official said the vision is to build a “self-contained place for the IT industry” where tech startups can access their requirements within the tech city.
